A Safe, Non-Invasive, and Effective Solution for Add Adhd

Neurofeedback is a safe, non-invasive, and effective solution to help your child overcome the symptoms of his or her ADHD, ADD, or learning differences. Discovered in the 1950s, numerous published studies have shown neurofeedback to have the largest impact on the ADHD community. There has been more research done on neurofeedback and its impact on ADHD than any other category. Below are a few of the more recent studies that have been published about neurofeedback and its effects on children who suffer from the symptoms of ADHD.

2012: 130 children diagnosed with ADHD aged 6-18 were randomly assigned into 3 groups – one received neurofeedback, one received medication (methylphenidate), and one received both neurofeedback and medication.

Findings: The researchers conclude that “NF produced a significant improvement in the core symptoms of ADHD, which was equivalent to the effects produced by MPH (methylphenidate), based on parental reports. This supports the use of NF as an alternative therapy for children and adolescents with ADHD.”

Duric NS, Assmus J, Gundersen DI, ElegenIB. (2012). Neurofeedback for the treatment of children and adolescents with ADHD: A randomized and controlled clinical trial using parental reports. BMC Psychiatry, 12:107

2012: American Academy of Pediatrics rated neurofeedback as a Level 1 “Best Support” Intervention for ADHD. This is highest possible rating and at the same level as medication treatment and behavioral therapy.

2014: 104 children were randomly assigned to receive NF (neurofeedback), cognitive training, or a control condition. They were also evaluated 6 months post-intervention.

Findings: “Neurofeedback participants made more prompt and greater improvements in ADHD symptoms, which were sustained at the 6-month follow-up, than did CT participants or those in the control group. This finding suggests that neurofeedback is a promising attention training treatment for children with ADHD.”

History Neurofeedback

A Brief History of Neurofeedback

Neurofeedback is a type of biofeedback that was discovered in the 1950s, which  works by using sensors that a neurocoach will place on the client’s scalp. These sensors read the electrical activity of the client’s brain and create an EEG (electroencephalogram). The FDA registered EEG then sends this information through the Direct Neurofeedback software. A minute, imperceptible signal is then sent back from the system, through the sensors, and back to the client’s brain. This signal is customized to the client’s brainwaves in real time, which allows the brain to get out of frozen, stuck patterns. This “dis-entraining” of the brain allows it to reboot back to its optimal settings and functioning.

“Neurofeedback has done great things for me. Love it! From improving my focus in the ring to calmness during intense training, neurofeedback has given me something “extra”. Big thanks to Meg Stuppy who made me feel comfortable enough to understand what I needed.”
